Water Street in Tampa to Host 2026 SEC Media Days

Big news for Tampa’s waterfront — the SEC Football Media Days are officially coming to town in July 2026, marking the first time the event has ever been held in Florida.

Long a stalwart of Birmingham, Alabama, four days of SEC "Talking' Season" will take place at the JW Marriott Water Street and Tampa Marriott Water Street, putting the heart of downtown Tampa — and panoramas of nearby Harbour Island — squarely in the national spotlight.

Thousands of sports media members, coaches, and players will descend on the city, filling hotels, crowding local restaurants, and showcasing Tampa’s skyline to fans watching from home.

For locals, it’s another win for Water Street’s evolution into a major events hub and proof that Tampa’s ready for the big leagues — again. Expect a surge in waterfront energy, packed patios, and maybe a few celebrity sightings around Sparkman Wharf and Amalie Arena.
