Sometimes it’s good to play tourist in your own backyard. Yesterday’s visit to The Dalí Museum reminded us why St. Pete remains one of Florida’s cultural gems.
The museum’s core collection—anchored by Dalí’s massive surrealist works like The Hallucinogenic Toreador, The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus, and The Ecumenical Council—is simply breathtaking. Seeing them in person gives new meaning to scale and imagination.
While the building itself is a masterpiece, the permanent collection occupies just one main gallery, which may seem lean for the admission charge, but makes for a great "in between" activity as visitors can knock out their stay in a little over an hour and move on to St. Pete's other attractions.
The second space hosts rotating exhibits, currently Outside In: New Murals Inspired by Dalí, celebrating the SHINE Mural Festival’s 10th anniversary. Floor-to-ceiling murals, vibrant lighting, and AI-powered experiences like Your Portrait and Dream Tapestrymake this installation truly Instagram-worthy. We found this gallery to be a fun and engaging addition, even as it closes out its run on Oct. 26.
Tickets are $32 for adults, $12 for children, and parking is $10. Memberships and discounts are available. For locals and visitors alike, The Dalí remains a must-see—equal parts surreal, local, and inspiring.
