Our weekend breakfast tour took us south of Gandy, but just barely, Cook’s Kitchen, an English café and market just on the south side Gandy Boulevard in South Tampa.
Known for its authentic British charm and shelves lined with imported snacks and goods, Cook’s offers a quiet spot for a leisurely morning bite.
We both ordered bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches — mine on a croissant, hers on sandwich bread. The croissant version was tasty but smaller than expected, while the sandwich bread option arrived in three hefty portions — a pleasant surprise. Each plate came with a generous serving of fresh fruit, adding a bright touch to the morning.
We couldn’t resist sharing a pair of raspberry scones, which added an authentic English note to the meal — not too sweet, just right alongside a hot cup of coffee. The total came to $45.42, a bit steeper than expected for two sandwiches, two scones, and two drinks, but fair given the freshness and friendly service.
Cook’s market section was a highlight — packed with British favorites like crisps, biscuits, and teas you won’t find in most Tampa shops.
While the sandwich itself may not claim the title just yet, Cook’s earned points for atmosphere, authenticity, and a relaxed morning vibe.
